Incompetent rule

We are definitely reminded again that we have incompetent people ruling this country.

The cynic or scenic or crooked bridge is OFF, again!!!&*^%$$%@#

The PM's Department has put up a notice here, and The STar has picked it up here.

Loosely translated it means :

"The Malaysian Government has decided not to continue with the construction of the bridge to replace the Johor Causeway. The decision of the Government was made after taking into consideration the voice and sentiments of the Malaysian people as a whole espectially with reference to the supply of sand supply and air space. The Government has also decided to stop all negotiations related with the bridge"

Eh. Why talk if you cant walk the talk. Why behave like cowboys in wanting to build without mutual consent if you know legally you may not win. Who was the legal advisor. Got scared when Singapore threatened to report to the ICJ / UN ? But then again, seeing how he seems to be backtracking a lot these days, am not at all surprised.

What surprises me is since when did the voice and sentiment of the Malaysian people count? Petrol prices rise and people complained, they didnt listen. Tol prices went up, they didnt listen. People complain about corruption, they dont act upon.

And whats the deal with "supply of sand and air space". Whats sand and airspace issues got to do with a decision to stop building a bridge?

IMHO, this is one heck of a bad press release. But then again, why am i not surprised.

It came as a surprise to me that they scrapped the idea entirely. I thought that they will follow through stubbornly on that half-baked idea.

As per my comments on one of your earlier postings, I still cannot fathom the supposed benefits for this project to everyone, especially to JB folk and S'poreans.

And now we can all let this Crooked Bridge idea rest in peace. All and all we could say that it was "A Bridge Too Far".

To quote our PM (courtesy of The Star):

"We are not pressured by anybody. We think of what our people want. If the people do not want, then we need not go through with it.

We want to do things for the people’s convenience. If it causes problems and misunderstanding, it is not right to go ahead with it,” Abdullah said, adding that the people were not prepared to accept the terms.

“I have decided to listen to the people. This is a very serious matter and to ignore the feelings of the people is not good. This is the Government of the people, for the people, by the people.

Earlier in the article:

"Malaysia decided to stop the construction of the “scenic bridge” meant to replace the Malaysian half of the Causeway because of legal implications and complications, said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. "

Our esteemed PM isn't giving us the true picture, methinks. Uhh.. our Constitution allows impeachment or not? Wasting millions of the people's money would be grounds for it.

He's a useless fella. No backbone, and not much brains either.

First you stall the project for more than a year. Then you give the go-ahead in a gung-ho arrogant style.

Then out of the blue when S'pore says by international norm and laws M'sia cant, within days he backs off and cancels it. And what a crappy excuse. Listening to people's wishes my foot.

Surely he knows that before he makes decisions, he has to get the legal views. Or our legal eagles up at Putrajaya merely pigeons.

At the very least he could have salvaged the issue by saying clearly, and showing it graphically, how the alternative road linking the CIQ to the causeway would be done.

Watching the news last night on TV1 and TV3 made me want to puke, the way the ball-carriers were responding.

Gave up on him long time ago. Anyway, like maddie say, I cant see the justification in the proposal in the 1st place.
